🏫 Former Mifflin Elementary property heads to auction

Published Tuesday: Madison Local Schools will sell the former Mifflin Elementary property through an online auction running from October 24 through November 3.

The approximately 10-acre property includes six parcels along Reed Road and State Route 430. The school, originally built in 1949, closed as part of the district’s budget reductions. Read Tuesday’s Richland Source report.

🚓 Mansfield welcomes three police officers

Monday carryover: Codey Ratliff, Brandon Gaunt and Cole Applegate were sworn into the Mansfield Police Department during a ceremony at City Council chambers.

Gaunt brings about 10 years of law-enforcement experience, while Ratliff previously served in Canton and Applegate worked for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Read the officer profiles.

🪑 Carrousel joins foster-care awareness campaign

Monday carryover: A stationary chair at Richland Carrousel Park now represents children waiting for foster placements through Richland County Children Services.

The installation is part of the “This Seat is Waiting” campaign. A QR code beside the chair connects visitors with information about becoming foster parents and helping children remain close to their schools and communities. Learn about the campaign.

🚧 Wood Street remains closed for water-main repairs

Monday city notice: Wood Street is closed between Ohio Street and Richland Avenue while Mansfield crews complete water-main repairs.

No through traffic is permitted. The city expects the street to reopen Monday, September 21. Check City of Mansfield updates.

🏛️ Mansfield City Council meets tonight

Mansfield City Council is scheduled to meet from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in third-floor council chambers at the Municipal Building, 30 N. Diamond Street.

🦎 Nature and garden programs fill Tuesday’s calendar

Public Animal Feeding Day runs from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at Gorman Nature Center, giving visitors a closer look at its resident animals.
