🚰 Boil advisory issued for South Diamond Street area

Issued Tuesday: Mansfield has announced a precautionary boil advisory following water-main repairs. It covers South Diamond Street between Luther and Rembrandt streets, Lincoln Avenue, and Beethoven Street from South Diamond Street north to the dead end.

The city directs affected customers to bring water intended for consumption to a rolling boil for three full minutes. A follow-up notice will be issued after water samples are tested. Read the city’s advisory. mansfieldohio.gov

🗳️ Early voting begins today

Happening Tuesday: Richland County voters can begin casting ballots for the November 3 general election at 1495 W. Longview Avenue in Mansfield, in the lower-level classroom.

Early voting runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM today through Friday. Today is also the first day absentee ballots can be mailed to voters. Check the county’s voting information and early-voting schedule. Board of Elections

🏙️ Shelby advances downtown and infrastructure measures

Published Tuesday: Shelby City Council voted Monday to support the Richland County Land Bank’s grant application to demolish the building at 22 W. Main Street. Council also authorized a nonbinding loan-fund agreement for wastewater improvements.

🚧 Park Avenue East closures extended

Monday notice, continuing Tuesday: Water-main repairs are keeping sections of Park Avenue East and Ashland Road closed, with reopening now scheduled for October 14.

Affected stretches include Park Avenue East from Bentley Street to Ashland Road and from East Fifth Street to Ashland Road, plus Ashland Road between East Fourth Street and Park Avenue East. 🏅 Local athletes earn nominations after standout performances

Monday coverage: The Mansfield News Journal’s latest Male Athlete of the Week ballot recognizes performances from September 28 through October 3. Nominees include Crestview golfer Cole Bowman, who secured a state-tournament berth in a three-way playoff, and Mansfield Christian runner David de Lorenzo, the Cub Classic individual champion.
