Parkrun Celebrates Two Years Of Fitness And Fun

Two years ago, Mansfield became just the eighth location in the United States for the internationally recognized weekly FREE 5K timed run known as parkrun. This past Saturday, parkrun celebrated that anniversary. Sponsored by the City of Mansfield Parks Department, the Richland County Park District (B&O Trail), and Richland Public Health’s Creating Healthy Communities grant, parkrun is not a race but a fitness and recreation opportunity for all ages. Fun In The Park Starts On June 13

Friends of the Mansfield Parks has announced that the 2017 Fun in the Park series is starting in mid-June. Held at South Park, the program will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays through July 19, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Headquarted in the South Park Pavilion, garden and drama activities will be held on Tuesdays, with history and art following on Wednesdays. Read More

Statewide Recreation Survey Being Conducted

Care about kayaking, hiking or swimming? The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) wants to hear from Ohioans about the outdoor recreational activities they enjoy the most. Ohio residents can share their opinions about their favorite activities, and any new or expanded outdoor recreational opportunities they would like to see in Ohio. Mansfield YMCA Makes Splash Park Announcement

Today, the Mansfield Area Y made a big splash. Well, more precisely, they announced they will be making a big splash very soon. At a press conference, the Y released information regarding its 150th birthday in Richland County. CEO Cristen Gilbert unveiled exciting new projects and investment plans. Included among those plans are a new parking lot, gymnasium floor and acoustic improvements, livestrong program investment, and a brand new community splash pad set for a summer 2018 opening. Council To Consider Acceptance of Sterkel Park Grant

When Mansfield City Council meets this coming Tuesday night, acceptance of a park grant will be on its agenda. In a letter dated December 29, 2016, the City of Mansfield was notified by JPMorgan Chase that a grant of $60,000 had been awarded from the Sterkel Fund.
