Summer Road Trip: Shakespeare Under The Stars

This year we’re continuing our weekly look at unique events and attractions that are within an easy driving distance of Richland County. We call these “Summer Road Trips.” Of course, we regularly feature the many extraordinary places to visit right here in Richland County and encourage our readers to get out and experience what is on offer in our own backyard.

If you have never been to a presentation by The Actors’ Theatre at Schiller Park in Columbus’ German Village, you really will be in for a treat if you take this particular road trip. We at 1812Blockhouse have been there in years past, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

The regular presentation of works of Shakespeare and other playwrights leads off this summer with an open air production of the great bard’s “Much Ado About Nothing.” More…

OSU Mansfield’s Spring Play Is A Fresh Take On An Old Poem

The Ohio State University at Mansfield’s spring play, “Back to the Divine Comedy”, will offer the audience a rocking new look at the story originally told in Dante’s poem “The Divine Comedy”.

In this new telling, a modern Dante starts a journey to the afterlife with the hope of bringing back to life his dead young wife. Following the path of his ancestor, he walks through hell, purgatory, and heaven. Along the way bizarre characters show him how eternal life has changed during the last 700 years. It is a timeless story of love, loss, facing your fears, and finding your way. More…
