Apprenticeship Can Be A Path To Success

National Apprenticeship Week is celebrated this year from November 11 through November 17. The week is used to bring attention to apprenticeship as an opportunity to be trained and skilled up for a particular type of work, and we would like to use this opportunity to feature a local success story.

When Ashland native Josh Barr came to the end of his military career as a Marine in 2017 – he was unsure of what the next chapter in his life would entail.

“I wanted to still be a part of something larger, like the strong brother and sisterhood I experienced in the military,” Barr said. “After speaking with the Business Manager, Jeff Sellers of Local 1216, about the Laborers’ Union Apprenticeship Program, I knew I found the opportunity I was looking for.” More…

Customer Service Certification Program Being Offered: Updated

A collaboration between North End Community Improvement Collaborative, Inc. (NECIC), Temp2Higher, North Central State College, and the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library will bring a free Customer Service Certification program to the NECIC/Temp2Higher training facility. The class will begin December 3.

The intensive, week-long training will be taught by instructors from North Central State College, and will cover all aspects of customer service, from communication to defusing critical situations and handling conflict. More…
