OSU Taking New Collin’s Law Seriously

The following message was sent to the Ohio State community Friday from Melissa L. Gilliam, executive vice president and provost; Stacy Rastauskas, vice president for government affairs; Jeff Risinger, senior vice president of talent, culture and human resources; and Melissa Shivers, senior vice president for student life.

This week marks an important moment in our state’s and university’s commitment to eradicating any form of hazing in educational institutions across Ohio. Collin’s Law, Ohio’s Anti Hazing Act, which went into effect last week, enacts a number of important requirements and changes, all in effort to end hazing and interrupt contributing factors that have enabled the persistence of hazing in the past.

Two Conferences With Ohio Schools Announce Conference Only Fall Sports Seasons

Two collegiate conferences announced on Thursday that fall sports competition will feature only conference games — if those games are allowed to proceed.

The Big Ten and the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), while representing institutions of substantially different sizes, issued statements which reflected many of the same observations and conclusions.

Grant-Funded Internships For Clear Fork Grad Lead To Career

From completing community mapping work in Costa Rica to comparing life expectancies in Italy and the United States, Ohio Wesleyan University students are receiving nearly $49,000 in new university-funded grants to support academic, research, and internship experiences. Ohio Wesleyan today announced it is awarding seven new Theory-to-Practice grants to enable 12 students and four faculty and staff mentors to complete OWU Connection experiences on campus; in Columbus; and abroad in Costa Rica, Italy, Morocco, and Northern Ireland.

Ohio’s College Savings Plan Sports A New Look

CollegeAdvantage is launching a new logo which reflects that CollegeAdvantage is Ohio’s 529 Plan and for many is the best choice to save for higher education costs nationwide and especially for Ohioans.

After eighteen years of CollegeAdvantage, research showed that Ohioans were faster to act and begin saving for their children’s future college costs when they recognized CollegeAdvantage as “Ohio’s 529 Plan.” A study also showed that the new logo helped a vast majority of participants to correctly associate Ohio’s 529 Plan as a college savings organization. Effective today, CollegeAdvantage’s brand has been officially changed to “Ohio’s 529 Plan, CollegeAdvantage.” More…
