Marvin Memorial Library in Shelby invites everyone to join their engaging “Off the Shelf Cookbook Club,” which meets monthly to explore different culinary themes. As the year winds down, the Cookbook Club has an exciting lineup of themes to inspire your inner chef. Whether you’re a seasoned cook or a kitchen novice, these events offer a welcoming space to share your love of food with others.

September: Appetizers Galore

Mark your calendar for September 10, as the Cookbook Club delves into the world of appetizers. Whether you prefer savory or sweet, the meeting will be a perfect opportunity to showcase your best bite-sized creations. Bring your favorite appetizer, along with the recipe to share with the group. This is a great way to collect new ideas for your next gathering or simply to enjoy a fun afternoon of tasting and talking about food.

October: A Spooky Halloween Treat

October is the time for all things spooky, and the Cookbook Club is no exception. On October 15, participants will focus on Halloween-themed dishes. Whether you want to try your hand at making eerie edibles or indulge in something sweet and spooky, this meeting promises to be both fun and frightful. It’s a chance to get creative with your cooking and share some Halloween spirit with fellow food enthusiasts.

November: A Taste of the 1940s

On November 12, take a culinary trip back in time to the 1940s. The Cookbook Club will explore recipes that were popular during this era, offering a nostalgic nod to the flavors and cooking styles of the past. Whether you’re interested in comfort food from the wartime era or classic desserts, this session will be a delightful exploration of history through food.

December: Holiday Party Delights

The year wraps up with a festive celebration on December 10. The theme for this month is “Holiday Party,” a perfect chance to bring your favorite holiday dish to share. From traditional Christmas cookies to savory dishes that grace holiday tables, this meeting will be a joyful end to the year, filled with the warmth and flavors of the season.

Join the Fun – No Registration Required!

The Cookbook Club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 PM at Marvin Memorial Library. No registration is required, so feel free to drop by whenever you can. Each session provides a wonderful opportunity to gather recipes, enjoy a communal meal, and make new friends. Participants are encouraged to bring a dish fitting the month’s theme and a copy of the recipe to share. You’ll leave each meeting with a “cookbook” collection of all the recipes presented.
