Shelby Bicycle Days is an integral part of the summer event season not only in northern Richland County, but in the entire area. This year, organizers faced the daunting realization that hosting a healthy festival, one that emphasized safe family fun, required that some changes be made.
The result is a different look version of Bicycle Days.
As shared by event organizations, the festival will include:
Hybrid virtual events: Free at-home kits for the Kids Passport Challenge will be available for pick up and will provide families a SBD experience at your own home. The kit will include supplies and instruction on how to complete events at home and online. Activities include the Bike Decorating Contest, Mini Spokes4Kids, Kids Safety Spot, Family Seek and Find, and the Kids Bike Clinic.
Altered events:
Parade: Updated route and different feel, but same great experience
History Talk: Window Clings will be up throughout downtown, and a virtual lesson will be given
Food Trucks: select food trucks will be available for the Second Sunday of each month beginning in June and going possibly through September.
Canceled for this year’s festival: Including but not limited to: fireworks, rides, games, non-food vendors – to ensure safety and the financial ability to continue them in the future.
