A second cannabis dispensary is preparing to open in Mansfield, bringing additional competition to the city’s emerging marijuana retail market and potentially increasing local tax revenue.

The new business, called The Garden Dispensary, is preparing to open at 1099 W. Fourth St. on the city’s west side. The location is a standalone building that had already been renovated for a dispensary by a previous applicant that ultimately never secured final state licensing. Now, new signage and branding on the storefront signal that the long-vacant site is finally moving toward opening.

A Building Finally Finds Its Tenant

For more than a year, the West Fourth Street building stood ready but unused. It had been remodeled specifically to house a dispensary, yet the original company that planned to open there never completed the state approval process.

The Garden Dispensary, affiliated with the King City Gardens retail brand known simply as “The Garden,” has stepped in to make use of the site. The company’s website lists the Mansfield shop as “coming soon,” alongside existing locations in Camp Washington and Sycamore Township in the Cincinnati area.

Mansfield’s Second Dispensary

When it opens, The Garden will become Mansfield’s second operating marijuana dispensary. The city’s first licensed shop, Beyond / Hello Mansfield, opened April 19, 2025, at 1515 Lexington Ave. That location serves both medical marijuana patients and adult recreational customers and offers online ordering for pickup.

City officials have described The Garden as the second dispensary under Mansfield’s current cap of three licensed locations. The addition will bring another retail option to the local market and create competition in product selection, pricing, and customer experience.

Economic Impact Already Visible

Cannabis sales have already proven to be a steady source of revenue for the city.

According to city reports, Beyond / Hello has generated an average of $25,000 in local tax revenue per month. A second active dispensary could increase those totals while also providing another access point for residents, particularly those on the west side of the city who currently travel to Lexington Avenue.

Opening Date Still Pending

An exact opening date for The Garden Dispensary has not yet been announced. Company representatives say the business is currently completing regulatory approvals and operational preparations before welcoming customers. Still, with the exterior branding now visible and final steps underway, Mansfield’s long-planned second dispensary appears close to becoming reality.
