The City of Ontario is set to hold its regular City Council meeting on Wednesday, August 21, at 7:00 PM at the Municipal Building. The public is invited to attend as several key ordinances and resolutions are up for consideration. The meeting will include discussions on various administrative changes, energy agreements, and employment policies. Below are the major points from the agenda:

Key Ordinances and Resolutions to be Considered

  1. Resolution No. 24-11
    Amending Financial Administration
This resolution seeks to amend Section 157.02 of the Codified Ordinances by changing the official responsible for apportioning interest. Additionally, it repeals Resolution 15-04, which previously governed this area. The amendment aims to streamline the process and update the responsible official’s role.
  2. Ordinance No. 24-12
    Electric Aggregation Program Agreement
The council will consider an ordinance that authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Dynegy Energy Services (East), LLC, doing business as Dynegy Energy Services, LLC. The agreement pertains to the city’s Electric Aggregation Program and will establish an electricity rate not exceeding $0.0730 per kWh. This ordinance has been declared an emergency to ensure timely implementation.
  3. Ordinance No. 24-13
    Mayor’s Temporary Compensation Adjustment
An ordinance is proposed to authorize the Mayor to receive the salary established for the Service-Safety Director position. This adjustment applies during the period when the Mayor serves in both capacities, but it will last for no more than 45 days or until an appointment is made to the Service-Safety Director position, whichever comes first. This ordinance has also been declared an emergency.
  4. Ordinance No. 24-14
    Temporary Role Compensation
This ordinance proposes that any city official temporarily acting in a capacity other than their original position should receive the pay rate associated with the temporary position. The ordinance is intended to ensure fair compensation for officials stepping into different roles, and it has been declared an emergency for immediate effect.
  5. Ordinance No. 24-15
    Employment Terms for Non-Union Employees
The council will consider establishing new terms and conditions of employment for non-collective bargaining unit city employees. This ordinance repeals Ordinance 23-04 and is designed to update employment policies to reflect current needs. As with the other ordinances, this one is declared an emergency.
