From the great folks at: Destination Mansfield – Richland County: September signifies the start of fall, but here in Richland County, September also brings various activities to fill your autumn calendar.

From the Oktoberfest at The Phoenix Brewing Co. to the Malabar Farm Barn Dance, there are happenings for all ages. Enjoy the crisp air with this month’s festivals and fairs or experience the fine arts Richland County has to offer.

September gives you the chance to start and end the month with barnyard activities. Begin your month with the 25th Anniversary Barn Raising (September 1–2) at Malabar Farm State Park to help celebrate the Bromfield traditions. A few weeks later, stop by the Malabar Barn Dance (September 28) also located at Malabar Farm. Experience a corn maze, pumpkin slingshot, wagon rides and more with the Fun at Barnyard Park (September 28–October 20) located in The Barnyard Park.

Want to experience a simpler time? Shop the Prairie Peddler Festival (September 28–29) for handmade and repurposed items. Or, come and experience the festival’s live entertainment, great food, and other scheduled activities the whole family can enjoy. Learn about the Civil War & Buck Skinners Camp at the 43rd Annual Ohio Heritage Days Festival (September 28-29), located at Malabar Farm State Park. This event features live music, food, and horses. Or help celebrate Oktoberfest (September 21) this year at The Phoenix Brewing Company. The Bellville Street Fair (September 11–13) is four days filled with art and music shows, rides, and free entertainment.

This month is your chance to view the SDC Studebaker Car Show (September 14) as it showcases all sorts of classics, modified, and modern cars. And for those sportscar lovers, the National Auto Sports Association (NASA) Championships (September 18–22) are just around the corner, held at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

If you would like to fill your time with the fine arts, Richland county offers an abundance of opportunities and experiences.  The “Lines and Edges” Art Exhibition (September 1–8) located at the Mansfield Art Center is a collaborative exhibition. The Little Buckeye Children’s Museum offers a hands-on experience for kids aged 2–8 with Art Classes or children can dance their way over to the Music and Movement. Experience Jazz & Eggs every Sunday at Black Dog Tavern, with the featured musicians Damian and Dane. And don’t miss out as this is also the last chance for the Final Friday Concert Series (September 27) The Brickyard.
