It’s October, so we at 1812Blockhouse are turning our thoughts to the frights and thrills that Halloween brings. We have assembled a list of area haunted houses (although, oddly enough, not one takes place in a house) to help you safely get all the scares you desire:

~Blood Prison: Running through November 3 at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, the Escape from Blood Prison experience offers a chance to spend time with dangerous prisoners who are hiding out within the vast Reformatory. The event runs Thursdays – Sundays, beginning at 6:00 PM. Tickets range from $25 to $45, including speed passes and touch passes (for an interactive experience). Full details: BloodPrison.com.

~Camp Deadwood: Starts October 4 and runs through November 2 in Loudonville, visitors will have to navigate their way through a haunted camp and hopefully find their way out. The organizers have arranged for food trucks, carnival games and more to entertain those waiting for their turn in the camp. This event runs Fridays and Saturdays, with the first bus leaving at 7:30 PM. General admission tickets are $15. Full details: CampDeadwood.com.

~Mohican Haunted Schoolhouse: Running through November 2 at the Old Perrysville School in Perrysville, this haunted schoolhouse is where visitors are taught how to be afraid. The building features three different terrifying floors of fright. This event runs Fridays and Saturdays, beginning at 7:00 PM. General admission tickets are $18. Full details: MohicanHauntedSchoolhouse.com.
