Hearts, candy, romance, and snow are all in the air for February.  Whether you’re looking for a romantic night out, an outdoor adventure for the whole family, or a day in the snow, Destination Mansfield – Richland County has the place to find it all. Plan that special outing or purchase event tickets to make the perfect Valentine’s Day gift.

Theatre lovers might opt for the gift of tickets. The Mansfield Playhouse presents the play “Men are Dogs” in late February and early March. For a little romance, The Mansfield Symphony swings with this tribute to the greatest Big Band music of all time in MSO Pops: When Swing was King, also featuring the NEOS Dance Theater, at the Renaissance Theatre (Feb.18).  Join Just Jazz Live & Friends for an old-school feel event at Malabar Farm State Park. Experience the artistic stylings in the tradition of the Great American Songbook: Jazz, Blues & Latin, all while enjoying a 5-course Italian meal in the Big House (reservations required).

Can’t whisk away your sweetheart for a weekend in Paris? How about visiting The Glow of Paris exhibit at the Mansfield Art Center? Hurry, the exhibit only runs through Feb. 26.

And since winter in Ohio includes snow, embrace it. Even with milder temps this year, Snow Trails continues to offer some of the best skiing and tubing in Ohio. Is learning to ski on your “bucket list”? Hit the beginners’ area at Snow Trails and sign up for a class. Couples, groups, or just you can join the classes.  The 56th Annual Ski Carnival (Feb. 25 & 26) offers favorites like the Bikini and Chippendale Slalom races and the Kid’s Challenge and two events to take place in the Tubing Park, plus live music with the band Shucking Bubba Deluxe

Live Music enhances any outing. So whether you’re heading out for a romantic evening or meeting up with friends for a night of fun, so many options fill the February calendar including The Happy Grape, Phoenix Brewing Company, Buck’s Bar & Grill and others. Every Thursday on the Destination Mansfield facebook page you can find the RichlandLIVE options for that weekend.

Family fun also flourishes in February. Kids will love the Valentine’s Party at The Little Buckeye Children’s Museum (Feb.9) and The Ohio Bird Sanctuary offers Love Is In The Air about owls (Feb. 11). The entire family can take part in the Winter Hike for Health at Malabar Farm State Park (Feb.11) or the Mardi Gras 5K in Lexington (Feb. 26). There’s even a guided hike to the historic Hemlock Falls, followed by a wine and cheese reception (Feb. 12). Head to The Night Sky at Gorman Nature Center (Feb. 28) to learn a bit about the moon and stars, view some constellations and planets, and take home a free star chart.

Find that perfect Valentine gift like homemade chocolates from The Squirrel’s Den, special Bundt cakes at Eatmor Bundt Company, or select a special wine or brew at one of the area’s local wineries and breweries at www.WineAleTrail.com. Limited space is still available for the Friday seating for the Valentine’s Day Wine Tasting event at The Wishmaker House Bed and Breakfast.

It’s a short month, so don’t delay. Enjoy February in Mansfield and Richland County. View our full calendar of events.
