🏫 Lexington school targets fall 2028 opening
The new Lexington Elementary School is expected to open in fall 2028, with site preparation underway and foundation work scheduled to begin this fall. The PreK-6 building will have two academic wings, separating younger and older students. Residents received their first detailed look at the plans Wednesday, when the proposed pickup and drop-off arrangement generated questions during a school board meeting.
🙏 Festival of Hope draws thousands of registrations
More than 6,300 people have registered for Saturday’s inaugural Festival of Hope at Mansfield Speedway. Organized by Godsfield, the free community event will feature music, giveaways, prize drawings, prayer ministry and a gospel-centered message. Concessions will be available, and attendees using the grassy lawn are encouraged to bring chairs.
📦 Veteran couple opens Ontario shipping center
Lisa and Aaron Francis have opened Goin’ Postal Mansfield at 311 N. Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario’s Walmart and Applewood Plaza area. Lisa Francis served for 20 years with Mansfield’s 179th Airlift Wing, and the new location identifies itself as both woman-owned and veteran-owned. The store offers UPS, FedEx, USPS and DHL shipping along with notary, printing, shredding, mailbox and passport-photo services.
🏈 Plymouth moves into eight-man football
Plymouth High School will play eight-man football this season after participation numbers fell into the teens during the summer. The Big Red have joined the Northern 8 Football Conference, although eight-man football is not sanctioned by the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Twenty players participated in summer workouts, down from a 24-player roster last fall, and the conference schedule will require some lengthy road trips. Senior Isaiah Miller returns after rushing for 750 yards and six touchdowns while recording 58 tackles last season.
