It’s not just nature showing off its vibrant colors these days—students across the region are preparing to do the same. For local art teachers and their students, spring means one thing: art show season. And at the heart of this creative surge is Artapolooza, the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center’s annual fine arts festival.

Returning once again to the Mid-Ohio Conference Center (890 W. Fourth Street in Mansfield), this year’s Artapolooza promises to be the biggest yet, running from Friday, April 4 through Wednesday, April 9.

A Record Year for Participation

“This year’s event is shaping up to be another incredible year with 34 school buildings participating,” said Jennifer Pennell, MOESC’s Gifted Education Consultant and the event’s coordinator. The event is free and open to the public with flexible hours to ensure everyone has a chance to experience the magic:

  • Friday, April 4: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 5: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Sunday, April 6: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Monday, April 7 – Wednesday, April 9: 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Art in All Its Forms

From traditional paintings and drawings to intricate sculptures, digital pieces, and mixed media, Artapolooza celebrates the full spectrum of student creativity. Submissions are accepted from all area schools, regardless of whether they are part of a MOESC member district.

“Artapolooza is about celebrating the arts—something that is vital to student expression and growth,” Pennell shared. “It’s not a competition; it’s a spotlight on talent, effort, and imagination.”

Honoring the Artists

A highlight of the week is the Art Awards Presentation, scheduled for Wednesday, April 9th at 6:30 p.m. in Artist’s Hall. The evening will include a live gallery walk and a special slideshow presentation, recognizing standout pieces and creative achievements. For those who can’t attend in person, a virtual version of the gallery and awards will be available on the MOESC website following the event.

The event is made possible in part thanks to generous community partners, including Schmidt Security Pro, which has provided funding for student awards.

A Community-Wide Canvas

Artapolooza isn’t just a school event—it’s a community tradition that brings families, educators, and art lovers together to appreciate the vision and voice of the next generation. It’s a reminder that art is not just a class—it’s a way of seeing the world.

For Pennell and her team, the goal is simple: to foster a lifelong love of the arts. “These students are not just creating projects,” she said. “They’re telling stories, exploring ideas, and finding confidence through creativity. That’s what Artapolooza is all about.”

Plan Your Visit

Whether you’re a parent, a teacher, a student, or simply someone who loves the arts, Artapolooza 2025 is a must-see celebration of young talent and community spirit. Mark your calendars—and prepare to be inspired.
