The Ohio State University continues to solidify its reputation as a national leader in graduate and professional education. In the newly released 2025 U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, numerous Ohio State programs climbed the charts—some reaching the top five and others solidifying long-standing prestige.
From law and medicine to business, engineering, public affairs, and nursing, Ohio State’s 15 colleges are proving their power to prepare students for real-world impact across disciplines.
Nursing Rises to the Top
The College of Nursing continues its dominance with remarkable strides in the rankings:
- The Master of Science (MS) in Nursing is now No. 3 nationally and No. 1 among public universities—its seventh year in the top 10.
- The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program leaped ten spots to No. 9 nationally and No. 5 among publics.
These rankings underscore Ohio State’s role in training the next generation of nurses through both rigorous academic preparation and cutting-edge clinical experiences.
Fisher College of Business: Climbing the Charts
At the Max M. Fisher College of Business, both full-time and part-time MBA programs posted significant gains:
- Full-Time MBA is now No. 8 among public institutions and No. 24 overall.
- Working Professional MBA climbed to No. 8 overall and No. 5 among publics.
Additionally, four business specialties earned top-30 rankings:
- Supply Chain/Logistics: No. 4
- Production/Operations: No. 12
- Accounting: No. 27
- Finance: No. 28
These results affirm Fisher’s growing national profile and commitment to practical, leadership-focused business education.
Law, Health, and Policy: Leaders in Their Fields
The Moritz College of Law retained its top-tier status, ranking No. 28 overall and No. 10 among public law schools. It remains the nation’s top program in Dispute Resolution—a title it has now held for two consecutive years.
Ten of Moritz’s specialties ranked in the top 50, including:
- Criminal Law (16)
- Health Law (17)
- Legal Writing (17)
- Constitutional Law (31)
At the College of Public Health, the Master of Health Administration (MHA) program is now No. 5 in the U.S., while the college overall is 22nd nationally—the highest ranked in Ohio.
Meanwhile, the John Glenn College of Public Affairs remains a powerhouse, holding 16th place overall and placing in seven specialty areas, such as:
- Public Management and Leadership: No. 7
- Nonprofit Management: No. 9
- Urban Policy: No. 22
Medical Excellence: Tier 1 Research and Clinical Leadership
For the second straight year, the College of Medicine earned a Tier 1 rating in Best Medical Schools: Research, placing it among the top 16 medical research schools in the country.
Other health-related achievements:
- Physical Therapy doctoral program: No. 4 (up from No. 8)
- Occupational Therapy doctoral program: No. 9
- Primary care education ranked in Tier 2.

Ohio State’s College of Engineering ranked 27th overall, 13th among public universities, and first in Ohio.

- Nuclear Engineering: No. 15
- Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, and Computer Engineering: all within the top 30

- Audiology: No. 9 nationally, No. 7 among public universities
- Political Science and Sociology: Both No. 18
- Speech-Language Pathology: No. 21
- Psychology: No. 30 nationally, No. 14 among publics
- English and History: Top 30 nationally
- Economics: No. 37
The College of Education and Human Ecology also secured a strong position, ranked 27th overall, with seven of eight specialties in the top 10, including:
- Educational Administration: No. 4
- Educational Policy: No. 14
Veterinary Medicine: A Legacy of Excellence
The College of Veterinary Medicine once again affirmed its national leadership, ranking No. 4 out of 33 accredited veterinary programs in the U.S.
