Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center (MOESC) Superintendent Kevin D. Kimmel was recently recognized with the prestigious BASA Exemplary Leadership Award, presented by David Axner, Executive Director of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA). The award ceremony took place at MOESC’s Board of Governors meeting on October 16. In addition, Superintendent Kimmel was honored earlier at the BASA Awards Luncheon on October 1, held during the BASA Fall Conference.

Recognizing Excellence in Educational Leadership

The BASA Exemplary Leadership Award celebrates educational administrators who have made outstanding contributions to school districts, educational service centers, or institutions. Each year, one administrator from each BASA region is chosen for their exceptional service and leadership. Recipients must have at least three years of continuous service in administration or as a college instructor and be a BASA member for a minimum of three years.

David Axner, when presenting the award to Kimmel, commended his remarkable commitment to education, noting, “Superintendent Kimmel exemplifies the dedication and innovation that are central to the mission of educational service centers throughout Ohio.”

A Moment of Pride for MOESC

MOESC Board President Doug Theaker expressed immense pride in Kimmel’s achievement, stating, “The award is much deserved and is another indication of the great work Superintendent Kimmel is doing at Mid-Ohio ESC. The Board is incredibly proud of Superintendent Kimmel’s accomplishments and what he is doing for MOESC.”

Kimmel’s efforts have not only brought recognition to MOESC but have also impacted the 13 school districts served by the center. Theaker added that Kimmel’s leadership has played a crucial role in advancing the center’s mission of providing specialized academic and support services to over 20,000 students across Crawford, Morrow, and Richland Counties.
