Two measures coming before Mansfield City Council for the first time this week have a downtown flavor.
The first of those measures on Tuesday night’s agenda concerns the amendment of the current schedule of one-way streets to, as the legislation states, “remove one-way traffic restriction for Mulberry Street from Second Street to Fifth Street.”
The topic of one-way streets in downtown Mansfield has long been a topic of both civic discussion and city planning. In 2012, traffic changes were made to certain downtown streets in terms of multi and single directional traffic, and informational sessions have been held recently focusing on Mulberry Street.
The measure is being considered as an emergency – meaning that it will take effect immediately instead of the typical thirty days – in order to “change traffic patterns” to coincide with construction activities including signal work.
The second piece of legislation would grant to “Cypress Hill Winery Hudson and Essex Restaurant’ a license to install steps, an accessibility ramp, and a canopy along their building. According to the proposed ordinance, this would be along “North Park Street.”
There may well be a typo involved with that measure.
