The Eleventh Annual Zozo Party takes place tonight (Saturday) at Snow Trails.
This celebration of the arrival of colder weather takes place from 7PM to 1AM with food, a bonfire, and a live band in The Snowflake Loft.
Here’s the schedule:6PM – Doors open
7PM to 9PM – Grilling on the Ski Lodge Deck. Enjoy hot sandwiches that go well with beer. There will also be the Truckin Trav food truck from 7PM until late in the night.
8PM – Zozo Bonfire — Mt. Mansfield Slope
The “Burning of Zozobra” is an ancient Maipoe ritual of the Argentine that is celebrated when the days grow shorter and the weather cools. The change in the climate causes the Norse Mythological shepherd of snow Ullr to awaken from his summer slumber. In order to appease Ullr and ensure cold weather and bountiful snow, it is traditional to burn an effigy of Zozobra. It is the only way to appease this ancient shepherd of snow. Basically, a good reason for a party!
8PM: Band – “Kings of Cowtown” – modern country and rock
Live on-stage in The Snowflake Loft during and following the Bonfire. 21 Years of age and older in The Snowflake Loft post bonfire, unless accompanied by an adult.
