Celebrated every year on March 11, World Plumbing Day is an international event initiated by the World Plumbing Council that recognizes the important role plumbing plays in our health and safety.

Every person on the planet is affected by the availability of clean drinking water and basic sanitation. Unfortunately, in many developing countries, plumbing is either very limited or even non-existent and the lack of an effective plumbing infrastructure is a huge factor in the tragic statistics we are hear so often that we have become numb to their meaning.

According to the World Health Organization:

  • 650,000,000 people do not have access to safe water
  • 2.3 Billion do not have access to an adequate bathroom
  • 315,000 children die every year from diseases caused by dirty water and poor sanitation

Simple plumbing solutions could make all the difference in saving lives which is why we are asking for your support in recognizing World Plumbing Day on Monday, March 11.

At Richland Public Health, State-Certified Plumbing Inspectors work with registered plumbers and homeowners to ensure that all plumbing installations are in compliance with Ohio Plumbing Code. Richland Public Health has residential and commercial jurisdiction over plumbing in Richland County and commercial jurisdiction in Ashland, Crawford, Huron, Knox, and Morrow counties.

In 2018, Chief Plumbing Inspector Frank Brykalski and Plumbing Inspectors Todd Berry and Aaron Streng did 2,869 commercial inspections and consultations, 1,192 residential and 939 private water systems inspections and consultations.
