Today’s cold caused a bit of a stir in north central Ohio. We’re used to chilly winter stretches, but there’s something special about this particular stretch of cold.

Tonight, the challenge is extremely low wind chills.

It’s not everyday that the National Weather Service in Cleveland issues Wind Chill Advisories, but one is in place from 7 PM through 11 AM on Thursday morning and covers all of Ohio north of US 30 as well as Morrow, Marion, and Knox Counties.

WHAT…Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as

  15 below zero.

WHERE…Portions of northwest Pennsylvania and north central,

  northeast and northwest Ohio.

WHEN…From 7 PM this evening to 11 AM Thursday.

IMPACTS…The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if   precautions are not taken.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.

Winter safety tips from Richland Public Health can be found here.

As a reminder, the ARC Empowerment Center located at 378 Park Avenue West will have open doors for those seeking a respite from the cold. Open from 7:30 PM to 7:30 AM each day this week, individuals should use the side doorway off of Sycamore Street – the one closest to Park Avenue West.
