In April, we shared news that Walmart has announced its intention to spend over $80 million to remodel stores in 14 Ohio communities. That plan included the location on Lexington-Springmill Road in Ontario.

That renovation project is now taking place.

“In 2019 Walmart will continue to offer innovations that are saving them their money and their time,” said Dann Moore, Walmart Regional General Manager for northwestern, central and southern Ohio. “Our focus has been on making the entire shopping experience, inside our stores and online, easier and more convenient.”

The Lexington-Springmill Walmart renovation is underway in earnest. Customers entering the store are greeted with a large banner on the store exterior stating, “Exciting changes are coming!” On the interior, new signage is already evident in many areas and several departments are marked with “New & Improving” banners to which an additional “Done!” is added when a given department remodel is complete.

A clothing department sign shares news that the remodeling will include enhanced displays, new rooms for trying on clothes, and a new jewelry area. More changes across the store are taking place.

Other recent Walmart remodelings during a $500 million nationwide effort have included such features as wider aisles, reduced height shelving units, a redesigned electronics area with interactive displays, updated pharmacy and vision centers, and new signs, paint, and floors.
