A confirmed tornado joined other wind events in the Shelby area late on Sunday afternoon causing damage businesses, houses, and more.
On Sunday night, Fox8 was reporting that six people in Richland County have been hospitalized with storm-related injuries.
According to the National Weather Service office in Cleveland, the tornado touched down shortly before 5 PM. Soon, power outages began that caused Shelby Police to ask motorists to treat traffic lights as four-way stops.
The National Weather Service in Cleveland will arrive on Monday to assess the damage.
One reported section of damaged houses was on State Route 96 between Bucyrus and Shelby.

- Issued by the National Weather Service in Cleveland at 8:29 PM on Sunday evening: “The National Weather Service office in Cleveland OH will conduct a storm survey Monday morning for the area near Shelby in Richland County OH. The survey is in relation to a confirmed tornado that moved through the area on April 14, 2019. A final assessment including results of the survey are expected to be completed and transmitted via a Public Information Statement by Monday afternoon. The storm survey information will also be available on our website at http://www.weather.gov/cle.”
