Now that Shawshank25 is over, the movie is returning next month to the area – this time on the big screen.

TCM Movies is celebrating the anniversary with a screening of The Shawshank Redemption across the country. The local viewing will take place at the Cinemark 14 on Walker Lake Road in Ontario.

By now, you know the story – Adapted from Stephen King’s novella “Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption,” it stars Tim Robbins as banker Andy Dufresne, who is convicted of murder. In prison he meets Ellis “Red” Redding (Morgan Freeman), and a tale of friendship, survival and hope unfolds.

And, as you also know, it was nominated for seven Academy Awards.

This special viewing will include before and after movie commentary by TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz. It will take place at 4 PM on Sunday, September 22, and 7 PM on Wednesday, September 25. It will also air at the Polaris and Crosswoods Cinemas in Columbus and elsewhere around Ohio.

Tickets are now available here.
