Nathan Black is the newest member of the Richland County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Richland Newhope).

Nathan, who was appointed by the Richland County commissioners, took the oath of office during his first board meeting Wednesday. He will complete the term of Nicolas Comstock, who resigned from the DD board in June. That term expires December 31, 2021.

“This would be my first time sitting on a board. I think the board does a good job in providing services. I’m interested in being involved at the board level.”

Nathan has worked at Meijer for the past four years. He has been active in the Special Olympics program for several years. Nathan is the second individual eligible for services to be appointed to the RCBDD in its 51-year history.

The Richland County Board of DD last year supported more than 1,600 individuals through early intervention, preschool, adult, residential, therapy, transportation and other family support programs.
