On its website, the Richland County Foundation has announced the awarding of grants totaling almost one-half million dollars. According to the Foundation,
“The Richland County Foundation Board of Trustees approved close to $478,000 in grants to area nonprofit agencies during its October meeting. Projects that received grants and are impacting area residents include:
- Catholic Charities to provide emergency assistance, adult advocacy and food pantry services
- Mansfield Area Y for a chronic disease program
- North Central State College for tuition assistance for Richland County students enrolled in tech programs
- Raemelton Therapeutic Equestrian Center for equine-based therapy scholarships
- Richland Early American Center for History to erect a log cabin
- The Board of Trustees approved nine additional grants from donor advised funds to meet emerging needs to the following organizations:
- Discovery School
- Mansfield City Schools
- North Central State College
- Ohio State University – Mansfield
- Richland Community Development Group
- United Way
The Foundation was started in 1945 with the actions of local community leaders, and has grown to manage over $130 million in assets. Its stated mission is to “…improve and enhance the quality of life in Richland County through strategic philanthropy and community leadership.”
