The Renaissance Theatre is thrilled to present its annual Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre (RYOT) Workshop Showcase on Friday, February 21 at 7:00 PM. Under the direction of Lori Turner, this exciting performance will take place in the intimate setting of the Ren’s Theatre 166 space. As part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series, the showcase is free to attend for both adults and students, with tickets now available at the Renaissance Box Office, by phone, and online at rentickets.org.
An Opportunity to Shine
The RYOT Workshop Showcase is designed to develop the talents of young performers, focusing on individual growth through one-on-one coaching and small ensemble work. With the guidance of Turner and guest professionals, participants refine their vocal skills, acting abilities, and confidence on stage.
This year’s showcase features a lineup of classic Broadway comedy scenes and musical numbers, offering a diverse and engaging program. According to Lori Turner, “This year’s RYOT Showcase performers will stretch their acting and singing chops with a variety of classic Broadway comedy scenes ranging from Gilbert and Sullivan to Stephen Sondheim. Students will present short scenes and musical numbers from a range of productions, including Guys and Dolls, Mikado, 1001 Arabian Nights, Bye Bye Birdie, and My Fair Lady.”

The workshop welcomes students from 2nd through 12th grade, divided into two groups (2nd–6th grade and 7th–12th grade), creating a platform for young talent to shine. This year’s showcase features the performances of over 20 students, including:
