This month, both the Renaissance Podcast and the Renaissance Blog continue to discuss the way in which the arts impact the Mansfield and north central Ohio community.

In the latest edition of the Renaissance Podcast, OhioHealth Mansfield and Shelby Hospitals President Jean Halpin, as well as Speech Language Pathologist Logan Daup join Colleen Cook from the Renaissance to talk about the healing power of music and the arts. The guests also discuss how partnering with the Renaissance as the series presenter of the Mansfield Symphony is making our community a healthier place.

The Renaissance Blog is looking ahead at the summer school vacation for area children. Parents have long learned the lament about a lack of activities for kids during those weeks; Renaissance Performing Arts addresses this with “Three Free Performing Arts Activities for Summer Break.”

As the blog shares, “Summer break is just about here, and if you’re like most parents, you’re looking for fun activities that will challenge (and occupy) your children during their break – particularly on those rainy days. Here are three fun performing arts activities you can easily execute with minimal effort!”

The post, which can be accessed here, then looks at three such activities with ideas to make them happen:

  • Make sandwich bag puppets and put on a puppet show
  • Create percussion instruments and create a rhythm pattern
  • Create expressive movement
