On May 12, we shared news of the Richland County Active Transportation Photo Contest sponsored by the Richland County Regional Planning Commission (RCRPC). That contest deadline has now been extended.

In our post, we shared the following:

“All community members are invited to submit images that are people centered and infused with the joy, energy and impact of walking and bicycling. The contest is open to participants of all ages.

The Commission is looking for creative photos of good quality and resolution that could be used in the Active Transportation Plan and other materials. You are permitted to submit up to 5 photos for this contest, please include your name, address, phone number, email and a photo description in the form. Add hashtag #activerichlandcounty to the photo description. Winners will be chosen by a jury composed of RCRPC and other community members and organizations. Prizes will be announced soon.”

“The purpose of this contest is to showcase and celebrate the many different ways our county is becoming more active, with focus on how walking and biking improves your quality of life! We are not looking for your best images of innovative facilities, but the vibrant faces of the people who enjoy walking, biking, or even riding the bus here in our county.”

RCRPC has announced that the photo contest deadline has been extended until August 31. In their words, “Instead of putting a time limit on it, we feel its best to capture activities throughout the whole summer! Simply share your photos to Facebook using #Activerichlandcounty or click on this link http://woobox.com/mw63mi to upload your photos! The winner photos will be featured in our Active Transportation Plan”

Prizes have also been announced, and they include:

1st Place – YMCA 3-month membership + $100 cash prize
2nd Place – $100 cash prize
3rd place – $50 cash prize
Honor Mentions – $25 Gift certificates to Y-NOT and Cycling Sports Center
