Seasonal Park Technician – Application Deadline: March 16
Hourly Rate: $15-$17.50/hr (Part-Time)
As a Seasonal Park Technician with RCPD, you’ll get hands-on experience in the daily operations of park management. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and Operations Team, you’ll help maintain over 800 acres of diverse parklands. This role provides an opportunity to be involved in a wide range of activities across woodlands, wetlands, prairies, and rivers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and restoration of park facilities, grounds, and native habitats.
- Groundskeeping tasks like mowing, trimming, weeding, and storm cleanup.
- General maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and janitorial duties.
- Operate various hand tools and power equipment such as chainsaws, lawn mowers, and tractors.
- Manage invasive species and assist with flood mitigation and tree work.

Natural Resources Intern – Application Deadline: March 16
Hourly Rate: $16/hr
The Natural Resources Internship is designed for those interested in gaining in-depth experience with habitat management and land conservation. Working with the Natural Resources Manager and a team of volunteers, this position offers exposure to ecological fieldwork and hands-on land stewardship.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with habitat restoration, trail maintenance, and storm cleanup.
- Manage non-native species and assist with biological surveys and wildlife monitoring.
- Help with native species plantings, seed collection, and maintaining bird boxes.
- Engage in land management techniques, such as prescribed burns and herbicide application.

The Education Internship with RCPD offers a dynamic opportunity to engage in environmental education while working closely with the education director. If you’re passionate about teaching, animal care, and nature conservation, this position is for you.

- Assist with natural history and environmental education programs for various age groups.
- Care for educational animals and interact with the public to interpret nature center exhibits.
- Co-lead a week-long children’s day camp and help design new educational activities.
- Assist with outdoor tasks such as trail maintenance, landscaping, and invasive species removal.
