Regular tours and ghost hunts at Mansfield’s Ohio State Reformatory complex take place throughout the year. Every so often, these are joined by special events that take advantage of the landmark’s location, unique spaces, and ambiance.
During the spring and summer of 2017, those special events will include the following:
Zumbathon – March 19 – Starting at 11:00 AM — Join the 5th annual Zumbathon Charity Event for MRPS! This 2-hour fitness event will benefit the Ohio State Reformatory and partner organization Parent Aide. All proceeds raised will be used to support the annual Christmas event for Mansfield families in need of some extra holiday cheer. There will be a prison-themed costume contest and a Health Fair and Gift Basket Raffle. Doors open at 10:30.
NCO Home and Garden Show – April 7-9 – 2017 North Central Ohio Home and Garden Show sponsored by the Building Industry Association of North Central Ohio
Dropt n’ Destroyed Car Show – May 27-28 – Custom car and truck show
The Shawshank Hustle – June 17 — This 7k running race will feature five filming locations in The Shawshank Redemption.
Beards Behind Bars – July 1 — GET LOCKED UP on July 1, 2017 as Beards of the Old Northwest – Beard & Mustache Club brings you a facial hair competition you’ll have to SEE to believe
Ink in the Clink – July 14-16 – Tattoo and Music Fest
Civil War Weekend – August 26 — Come and experience living history on Saturday, while reenactors demonstrate life in the mid-1800’s. Tickets include a self-guided tour of the Ohio State Reformatory, parking, and access to the events in the field. Food trucks and vendors will be on site available to you.
