This time of the year typically sees road construction activity diminishing as projects near completion prior to the arrival of colder temperatures. In this week’s update from District 3 of the Ohio Department of Transportation, we share news of ongoing projects in Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties and also project updates in both Richland and Crawford Counties.


ASHLAND COUNTY

US Route 42
US 42, at the intersection of King Rd., will have traffic maintained with flaggers as needed, as crews continue work on signals. The project is expected to be complete in October.

State Route 60
SR 60, between US 30 to US 42, will have lane closures for a pavement repair and micro-surfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete this month.

Interstate 71
I-71, from US 250 to the Wayne County line, will have intermittent single lane for a resurfacing project. Crews will be completing final pavement markings and rumble strip work. The project will utilize digital speed limit signs to maintain traffic flow. The posted speed limit when crews are NOT working will be 65 mph; the reduced speed limit when workers are present will be 55mph. The project is expected to be complete this month.

US Route 224
US 224, from SR 511 to the Medina Co. line, will have single lane closures for pavement repairs and resurfacing. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.

US Route 224
US 224, from the Huron Co. line to SR 511, will have single lane closures for a micro-surfacing project. Crews will begin crack sealing the pavement next week. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.

US Route 250
US 250, at its intersection with Sugarbush Dr. and George Rd., will have traffic maintained with flaggers as needed, as crews begin upgrades on signals. The project is expected to be complete this month.

State Route 511
SR 511, from US 30 to SR 60, will have lane closures for a pavement repair and micro-surfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete this month.

CRAWFORD COUNTY

State Route 98
SR 98 (Plymouth St.), from SR 4 (Sandusky Ave.) to US 30, is closed for sanitary sewer installations and resurfacing work. No truck traffic will be permitted to travel through this area. Only local traffic will be able to access certain portions of SR 98 as the project progresses. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 98 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 4, south on SR 4 to SR 98, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete in October.

State Route 103 ***UPDATE***
SR 103, just west of Swabb Rd., is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 103 to SR 602, south on SR 602 to CR 25 (Chatfield Center Rd.), west on CR 25 to SR 103, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, September 28.

RICHLAND COUNTY

State Route 39 ***NEW***
SR 39, from Country Club Dr. to Taylortown Rd., will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews are currently working on the outside driving lanes and shoulder lane. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. Crews are finishing paving, berm, and pavement markings. The project is expected to be complete in November.

US Route 42 ***UPDATE***

US 42, between SR 97 and SR 13, will have intermittent single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Crews will be milling, paving, striping, and working on casting adjustments. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in October.

Interstate 71

I-71, between SR 97 and SR 39 interchanges, will have intermittent single lane closures during the day, and double lane closures at night for a resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete this month.

State Route 430

SR 430, between SR 39 and I-71, will have lane closures for a pavement repair and micro-surfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete this month.
