During this year’s road building season, we are bringing you weekly construction updates from District 3 of the Ohio Department of Transportation for Ashland, Crawford, and Richland Counties. This week’s work will include new or updated projects in Ashland and Richland Counties.

ASHLAND COUNTY

US Route 30
US 30, from SR 511 to SR 60, will have intermittent single lane closures as crews work to complete a micro-surfacing project. The project will utilize speed limit signs to reduce the speed and maintain the flow of traffic. The reduced speed limit when workers are present will be 50 mph; the posted speed limit when crews are NOT working will be 60 mph. The project is expected to be complete in July. 

State Route 39
SR 39, between Wally Rd. and Riverside Dr., is closed for a bridge deck replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 39, just outside of Perrysville, to SR 95, southeast on SR 95 to SR 97, east on SR 97 to SR 3, north on SR 3 to SR 39 (E. Main St.) in Loudonville, and reverse for northbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete later this month.

State Route 60
SR 60, between Twp. Rd. 1894 and Twp. Rd. 1806, is closed for a culvert replacement. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 60 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 511, north on SR 511 to SR 60, and reverse for southbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete in July.

Interstate 71 

I-71, from US 250 to the Wayne County line, will have intermittent single lane closures during the day and double lane closures at night for a resurfacing project. Crews will begin paving northbound and southbound in the farthest passing lane during daytime hours. Nightly pavement repairs will take place from 8pm-7am. During nightly hours’ crews will begin paving southbound in the farthest passing lane. The project will utilize digital speed limit signs to maintain traffic flow. The posted speed limit when crews are NOT working will be 65 mph; the reduced speed limit when workers are present will be 55mph. The project is expected to be complete in August.

Township Road 653
TR 653, between US 250 and TR 685, is closed for bridge repairs. The detour route for northbound motorists is to take US 250 east to TR 593, north on TR 593 to TR 1302, west to TR 1302 back to TR 653, and reverse for southbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete in September.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY

State Route 4
SR 4, from the Marion County line to the City of Bucyrus, will be reduced to one lane of traffic for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in July.

State Route 19
SR 19, between Hopley St. and S. Walnut St., will be reduced to one lane of traffic for resurfacing work. Traffic will be maintained with periodic flagging operations. Crews continue removing asphalt at intersections and begin crack sealing. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the month.

US Route 30 
US 30, from Tiffin St. to Lower Leesville Rd., will have eastbound and westbound single lane closures for bridge repairs. Crews will maintain one lane of traffic in each direction at all times. Please use caution while driving in the area. The project is expected to be complete in July.

 State Route 96 ***NEW***
SR 96, between SR 98 and SR 602, will close Monday, June 18 for three consecutive culvert replacements. The detour route for westbound motorist is SR 96 to SR 602, north on SR 602 to SR 98, southwest on SR 98 to SR 96, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, June 29.

State Route 98 ***NEW***
SR 98 (Plymouth St.), from SR 4 (Sandusky Ave.) to US 30, will close Monday, June 11 for sanitary sewer installations and resurfacing work. No truck traffic will be permitted to travel through this area. Only local traffic will be able to access certain portions of SR 98 as the project progresses. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 98 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 4, south on SR 4 to SR 98, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete in August.

State Route 602/96 Intersection ***NEW***
The intersection of SR 602 and SR 96, between Locustgrove Rd. and Beck Rd., will close Monday, June 18 for a culvert replacement. The detour route(s) are as follows: The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 602 to SR 330, west on SR 330 to US 30, west on US 30 to SR 98, north on SR 98 to SR 602, and reverse for southbound motorists. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 96 to SR 598, south on SR 598 to SR 330, west on SR 330 to SR 98, north on SR 98 to SR 96, and reverse for eastbound traffic. The project is expected to be complete by the end of June.


RICHLAND COUNTY

State Route 13
SR 13, beginning at the Knox County line to Hillview St. in Bellville, will have intermittent single lane closures for pavement resurfacing. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in September.

County Road 121
CR 121(Darlington South Rd.), on the structure over I-71, is closed for bridge repairs. The detour route for southbound motorists is Darlington North Rd. to Darlington East Rd., east on Darlington East Rd. to SR 546, south on SR 546 to Black Rd., south on Black Rd. to James Rd., west on James Rd. to Follin Rd., south on Follin Rd. to Painter Rd., west on Painter Rd. to Darlington South Rd., and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Monday, June 25.

State Route 603 
SR 603, between Baseline Rd. and Mill St. in Plymouth, is closed for a bridge replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 603 to SR 61, south on SR 61 to SR 96, east on SR 96 to SR 13, north on SR 13 to SR 603, and reverse for northbound motorists. The project is expected to be complete by August.
