A new position in nearby Oberlin is expected to have local benefit.

The Neos Center for Dance, a new pre-professional and community school at the Oberlin Center for the Arts in downtown Oberlin, is hosting an open house August 22 from 12 noon to 6 p.m.

Free and open to the public, the open house will feature tours of the new center, master classes, give-aways, refreshments, and opportunities to meet Neos co-founders Bobby and Brooke Wesner and DeMarcus Akeem Suggs, Neos’ new Director of Education and Outreach.

Previously holding similar leadership position with the Victoria Theatre Association and Victory Project in Dayton, as well dancing professionally with the Dayton Ballet, Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and others, Suggs will oversee daily operations of the Neos Center for Dance.

Suggs will also help to enhance Neos’ educational outreach programs for schools and civic organizations throughout northern Ohio, especially in the communities of Akron, Cleveland, Findlay, Mansfield, and Oberlin where the company frequently performs, teaches and collaborates.

Classes begin September 5 at the Neos Center for Dance, 39 S. Main St., Oberlin. Outreach programs will begin soon after in the Lorain City Schools. Support comes from The Nord Family Foundation.

Open house visitors will receive registration discounts for the center’s classes. For more information, visit www.neosdancetheatre.org or call 330-595-4650.
