Here’s hoping that Caroline Grace Williams really likes wearing a crown.
It appears that Miss Ohio 2019 will have another year to reign after the Miss Ohio Scholarship Pageant made an announcement on Facebook related to the annual event.
For the second time, the Pageant is being delayed. First moved to Ashland High School later this year, the next event will now take place in June of 2021.
According to the notice, For the safety, health and welfare of our Miss Ohio 2020 Miss and Teen Candidates, Family, Friends, Sponsors and the Mansfield Community, the Miss Ohio Board of Directors has decided to postpone our Miss Ohio 2020 Week until June 2021. All current Miss Ohio 2020 and Miss Ohio’s Outstanding Teen 2020 Candidates will continue as local titleholders to compete in the June 2021 State Competitions. Therefore the Local Competition Season from June 2020 to March 2021 will be postponed and begin again in July 2021.”
The notice goes on to say that Williams has agreed to serve in another year of service as Miss Ohio.
The Miss Ohio Pageant was first held in Mansfield’s Renaissance Theatre, then the Ohio Theatre, in 1959. After a few years, it was moved to Cedar Point where it remained until returning to Mansfield in 1975 – first at Malabar High School and then at the old Madison Theatre.
The need for improved facilities to televise the event, including having a larger stage, brought the Pageant back to the Ohio in 1980, where it has remained. The venue and event are closely linked.
On Instagram, Miss Ohio shared her thoughts on the postponement and spoke to those contestants who have worked hard but will be unable to compete for the title (see below):
