Perusing the Mansfield area entries on Meetup.com, a handful stand out as centers for community connection. One, Just Walk Richland, has previously been profiled on 1812Blockhouse.

The largest local listing, however, is for The Mansfield Womens Activity Group. In its introduction, group organizers share the following:

“It is for women of all ages, shapes, colors, religious affiliations, etc. The group will have events to encourage fitness/wellness, spiritual growth, personal growth, and pure expression of joy. We will:

  • hike, bike, kayak, walk, and etc..
  • discuss books and movies that can help us grow personally and spiritually.
  • meet for coffee, wine, food, and etc.

Membership in this body is simply to accomplish, requiring only attendance at a meetup and a willingness to keep conversations confidential. While there is no set charge, a suggested donation is made and can be accomplished online.

The group’s list of activities speak to its obvious vitality. They include, through the end of November:

  • October 28 at 6:30 PM – Campfire and Smores
  • October 29 at 10:00 AM – Hiking at Gorman Nature Center
  • November 1 at 6:30 PM – Personal Growth Book Discussion
  • November 3, 10, 17, and 24 at 11:15 AM – 30 Minutes of Mindfulness
  • October 31 and November 7, 14, 21, and 28 at 5:30 PM – Mindfulness Monday
