The Mansfield Symphony Chorus is seeking new voices to add to the Chorus. Rather than setting aside a specific day for auditions, Chorus Master Lori Turner will make herself available for interest community members who would like to audition. The first choral rehearsal will be held on Sunday, February 23, at the Renaissance Theatre; however, auditions can be held at any time throughout the season. Rehearsals are on Sundays from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Renaissance Theatre.

The Mansfield Symphony Chorus, celebrating its 43rd year, performs each year with the Symphony Orchestra. Their repertoire has consisted of John Rutter’s Gloria, Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, Igor Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms, Randall Bass’ A Christmas Flourish and Gloria, Handel’s Messiah in addition to Mozart’s Requiem. The MSC is always trying to find new ways of reaching audiences from all ages.

Interested persons may contact Lori Turner directly by email, [email protected], to schedule a time to audition. When meeting with Turner, candidates should be prepared to sing a classical piece or folk song.

Chorus Master Lori Turner brings nearly three decades of award-winning experience to her positions of Artistic Director of the Renaissance Youth Opera Theatre and Chorus Master. Turner began her professional career in Los Angeles where she sang with the Los Angeles Opera, the Roger Wagner Chorale and the Los Angeles Baroque Orchestra. Since that time, she has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City and at the Paris Opera in France, and has made numerous television and film appearances. Turner spent 10 years in Europe as a member of the Royal Flemish Opera in Belgium. Since coming back to the States, she has devoted her time to one of her great passions – introducing young performers to the wonderful world of Gilbert and Sullivan and other classic operetta and lyric Broadway composers. Turner has frequently appeared as a soloist with the Mansfield Symphony and with the late Tom Croghan.
