From Mansfield Division of Police

At approximately 3:31 PM this afternoon, the Mansfield Division of Police responded to the 600 block of Scholl Road after a person called 911 and advised [that] a female had just shown up at their residence and was suffering from gunshot wounds.

Officers, along with Mansfield Fire/EMS personnel, responded to the area. Upon contacting the 75-year-old female victim, it was learned that she had fled her residence at 614 Scholl Road after being shot several times by her 64-year-old husband.

Officers responded to the residence at 614 Scholl Road and attempted to contact the victim’s husband with negative results. A perimeter was set up around the residence and nearby homes were evacuated for safety. The Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) attempted to coax the suspect from home using a PA system as well as by phone.

Officers and CNT staff at the scene were never able to establish contact [with] the suspect and at approximately 6:45 PM entry was made into the residence. It was at that time [that] the subject was found deceased. Investigators and crime scene personnel remained at the scene for some time and no additional information is available at this time.

The female victim, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was alert and speaking with investigators at the ER. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening and she remains in the care of medical professionals.
