In a drug enforcement operation on July 30, METRICH detectives, in collaboration with the Mansfield Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, arrested 52-year-old Charles Feagin. The arrest took place following a vehicle stop at the intersection of Dawson Avenue and Maple Street in Mansfield.
During the stop, Mansfield Police K-9 “Lucas” was deployed and successfully alerted officers to the presence of drugs in Feagin’s vehicle. A subsequent search led to the discovery of five ounces of suspected cocaine.
The investigation didn’t stop there. Acting on further intelligence, METRICH detectives, with the assistance of the Richland County Sheriff’s Office and the Bellville Police Department, executed a search warrant at Feagin’s hotel room located at 880 State Route 97 West in Bellville. The search yielded an additional 17 ounces of suspected cocaine.
Feagin is currently being held at the Richland County Jail and faces serious charges, including Possession of Cocaine (F-1) and Trafficking in Drugs (F-1). METRICH detectives have indicated that more charges may be forthcoming as the case is presented to the Richland County Prosecutor’s Office.
METRICH Detective Justin Ady emphasized that this successful operation was a result of strong cooperation among various law enforcement agencies and valuable tips from the community.
“The METRICH Enforcement Unit remains committed to removing narcotics from our streets,” Ady stated. “We encourage all citizens to continue reporting any suspected drug activity.”
