Pond Clinic: Expert Advice on Pond Management

The Richland Soil & Water Conservation District (Richland SWCD) is hosting an informative pond clinic on February 25 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Longview Center. This event is designed to provide landowners with expert insights into pond management, featuring Steve Fender of Fender’s Fish Hatchery. Topics will include fish species selection, pond maintenance, aquatic weed control, and predator mitigation.

Additionally, Richland SWCD staff will discuss their role in assisting landowners with pond design, usage, and soil suitability testing. Another key topic will be the benefits of installing a dry hydrant for fire suppression, which can offer additional homeowner advantages. Annual Fish Sale: Stock Your Pond This Spring

Richland SWCD is once again holding its annual fish sale, giving landowners the opportunity to stock their ponds with a variety of fish species. Orders must be placed by April 17th, either online or by phone. Fish pick-up will take place on April 25th at the Richland County Fairgrounds Horse Barn from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

To ensure the health and safety of the fish during transport, customers must bring enough containers with unscented poly liners to hold oxygen. Each container should be filled one-third full with water from the pond where the fish will be released. Additional details, including species availability and ordering options, can be found at the following link:
