On Sunday, February 26, St. Peter’s Annual Choir Program will feature the choir and musicians of St. Peter’s in a performance of Deutsches Requiem (German Requiem) by Johannes Brahms.
The marvelous acoustic setting of St. Peter’s Church will provide an ideal backdrop for this gem of the choral repertoire. Tickets for this performance, which begins at 3:00 PM, are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Admission for St. Peter’s students is free with their Student ID.
The work, more formally known as: A German Requiem, To Words of the Holy Scriptures, is a large-scale work for chorus, orchestra, a soprano and a baritone soloist, composed between 1865 and 1868. Brahms’s mother died in February 1865, a loss that caused him much grief and may well have inspired its writing.
