The Richland County Solid Waste Authority (RCSW) has announced the 2025 Recycling Poster Contest, inviting students from kindergarten through 12th grade to showcase their artistic skills while advocating for sustainability. This engaging initiative aims to foster community awareness around the critical practices of reducing waste, reusing materials, and recycling.

Selected posters will be featured prominently in the annual Richland County Solid Waste Recycling Calendar, which is distributed widely throughout the community, ensuring that young artists have the opportunity to inspire their neighbors year-round.

Winners will be awarded exciting gift packets that may include gift cards to popular local spots. Additionally, nine other winners will receive gift packets promoting Richland County. Schools with participating students are eligible for up to twelve honorable mention prizes, consisting of promotional and recycled-content items, emphasizing the importance of environmental stewardship.

Submission Guidelines and Key Dates

Participating students must submit original, hand-drawn posters horizontally formatted, measuring between 8 1/2″ x 11″ and 12″ x 18″. All submissions must clearly illustrate the concepts of reduce, reuse, and recycle. Student’s name, grade level, teacher’s name, and school contact information must be included on the back of the poster.

Entries must be submitted to the Richland County Solid Waste Recycling Center at 1125 National Parkway, Mansfield, Ohio, no later than 4:00 PM on Friday, March 28. Winning posters will be selected on April 9, with winning artwork becoming part of the Richland County Solid Waste collection.

An Opportunity to Shape a Sustainable Future

This year’s contest has an open theme, giving students maximum creative freedom to communicate their ideas on environmental stewardship. It’s a perfect opportunity for young artists to make a positive impact on their community through creative expression.
