The Mansfield Police Department has been awarded $136,875.02 in grant funding through the 2025 Ohio Drug Law Enforcement Fund—the highest amount awarded to any agency in the state. The department shares this top-tier designation with just three other recipients: the Cleveland Department of Public Safety, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
This prestigious award places Mansfield among Ohio’s leaders in proactive, coordinated drug enforcement, recognizing the department’s tireless efforts to dismantle drug trafficking operations and address substance abuse in the community.
State Support for Local Impact
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced a total of $3 million in funding to 38 law enforcement agencies statewide to support local drug task forces. The initiative is part of Ohio’s broader Drug Interdiction, Disruption, and Reduction Plan and aims to stop illegal drug activity through targeted enforcement, community outreach, and agency collaboration.
“Ohio’s drug task forces are a major deterrent to those pushing drugs in our communities,” said Governor DeWine. “Their work is indispensable in rooting out traffickers and suppliers, and we are proud to continue offering this support.”
Mansfield’s Mission: Enforcement, Education, and Recovery
The Mansfield Police Department will use the $136,875.02 grant to enhance its drug enforcement operations, support overdose prevention efforts, and provide resources to those impacted by addiction. This includes investigating drug trafficking networks, sharing intelligence with regional partners, and connecting victims and families with education and treatment options.
Chief Keith Porch and the department have consistently demonstrated a commitment to a dual mission—reducing drug crime while strengthening the community’s capacity to heal.
Top-Tier Recognition, Local Leadership
Being among the highest-funded agencies in the state underscores the strength and effectiveness of Mansfield’s approach. By partnering with neighboring departments and leveraging intelligence-driven enforcement, the department has created a blueprint for impactful, community-centered drug task force work.
The grant is administered by the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services within the Ohio Department of Public Safety and reflects a significant vote of confidence in Mansfield’s ongoing work.
A Safer Future for Mansfield
The funding is more than a check—it’s a catalyst. With this support, the Mansfield Police Department is poised to expand its efforts in making neighborhoods safer, offering hope to families affected by addiction, and keeping dangerous drugs off the streets.
This top-level grant award serves as a powerful acknowledgment of Mansfield’s leadership in law enforcement and community resilience—and a reminder that when it comes to fighting the drug crisis, the city is not backing down.
