Richland County 4-H will hold their annual chicken dinner fundraiser Saturday, October 5, from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Richland Rural Life Center (969 E. Crall Road, Mansfield). Dinner includes chicken, side dishes, beverage and homemade ice cream; carry out meals and ice cream quarts will also be available. Full details can be found here.

Proceeds from the dinner will help maintain the Rural Life Center land and facilities. Situated on 130 acres, and featuring trails, campfire sites, lodges and cabins, the Rural Life Center is a non-profit organization that supports youth groups including 4-H and Boy/Cub Scout troops. It was established over 70 years ago for the purpose of providing youth groups with a “rural camp”.

4-H is a non-formal, educational youth development program offered to individuals age 5 and in kindergarten to age 19. Members learn valuable lessons in leadership, communication and collaboration while increasing their knowledge in math, science, technology and a variety of other topics. Kids can participate in 4-H community clubs, camps, in-school and after-school activities, and summer programs.

In Richland County, 4-H is administered by the Ohio State University Extension; more information is available here.
