Set for September 14-15, this beloved event invites Girl Scouts, their families, and friends to connect with nature and explore Ohio’s beautiful state parks. Whether you’re near the shores of Lake Erie or in the rolling hills of southern Ohio, there’s a state park adventure waiting for you.

Reflecting on a Successful 2023 Event

The 2023 Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend was a resounding success, with over 800 Girl Scouts and their guests participating in Naturalist-led activities across the state. From educational hikes to engaging crafts, participants deepened their connection to the great outdoors. The event not only provided an opportunity to enjoy nature but also strengthened the bond between the Girl Scouts and the community, highlighting the importance of preserving and appreciating our natural landscapes.

Spotlight on Malabar Farm State Park

One of the key locations for this year’s event is Malabar Farm State Park in Lucas, located in the heart of Richland County. Known for its rich history and stunning landscapes, Malabar Farm offers a perfect setting for a weekend of exploration and learning.

Scheduled Activities at Malabar Farm:

  • Farm Wagon Tour:
    Saturday, September 14 | 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM or 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM
    Enjoy a scenic tour of Malabar Farm on a farm wagon, where you’ll learn about the park’s history, its farm operations, and the beautiful surroundings that make this area so unique.
  • Barn Scavenger Hunt:
    Saturday, September 14 | 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM
    Put your observation skills to the test with a scavenger hunt in the park’s historic barn. It’s a fun, interactive way to discover more about the farm and its role in the community.
  • Nature Doodling:
    Saturday, September 14 | 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM or 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM
    Let your creativity flow with this unique activity that combines art and nature. Join fellow Girl Scouts in capturing the beauty of Malabar Farm through doodles inspired by the natural world around you.
