As the vibrant colors of fall begin to paint Ohio’s landscapes, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) invites everyone to experience the stunning autumn scenery, including the popular Mohican Experts Hike at Mohican State Park. This fall, Ohio’s trails offer the perfect setting for outdoor exploration, adventure, and relaxation.

Mohican Experts Hike: A Must-Experience Fall Adventure

Among the many hikes this season, the Mohican Experts Hike at Mohican State Park stands out for those looking to immerse themselves in nature.

  • When: Saturday, September 28 at 9:00 AM
  • Location: Follow the Mohican State Park Facebook Page for hike details and meeting instructions
  • Details: Guided by a Naturalist, participants will embark on a series of breathtaking hikes aimed at exploring every trail in the park and surrounding areas. Nearly every week, a new trail will be covered with minimal backtracking, totaling 4-6 miles per session. The hikes are moderately challenging, and carpooling may be required. All hikes are weather dependent.

Embrace the Fall Season in Ohio’s State Parks

“Fall is the perfect time to get outside, enjoy the cooler weather, and take in the beauty of Ohio’s changing leaves,” said ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “Whether you’re hiking through a forest, around a lake, or up a scenic overlook, the season offers countless opportunities for adventure, relaxation, and fun in our state parks.”

Ohio boasts 76 state parks with trails that cater to hikers of all skill levels, from family-friendly paths to more rugged terrain. Whether you’re walking the historic trails of Hocking Hills State Park, enjoying the shoreline views at Maumee Bay State Park, or tackling the challenging hikes of Mohican State Park, the fall season adds a vibrant backdrop of red, orange, and yellow leaves to each experience.
