Ohioans have long been able to track the spread of COVID-19 in their respective counties.

Now, they can find even more specific information about COVID-19 spread in their own zip code.

The Ohio Department of Health recently debuted its “Cases by Zip Code” dashboard, available online here. Users can search by individual zip code and filter the data by time period (cumulative, last two weeks or last 30 days).

The zip code with the most known cases this year is 43302 in Marion, perhaps unsurprising given that is where the Marion Correctional Institution is located. The Ohio Capital Journal reported back in April that 80% of prison inmates there had tested positive.

Outside of Marion, the top zip codes by total case counts are all located in populated areas in or near Columbus. Each of the these zip codes have recorded thousands of positive cases.

Comparatively, a number of zip codes in rural areas have only recorded five known cases to date. These include 43144 (Murray City in Hocking County); 44661 (Nashville in Holmes County); and 45352 (Palestine in Darke County).
