It is that time of year when all hopeful eyes are set on warmer weather. At the same time, this is the season when contractors can take a breather, and engineers are busy planning the year’s projects.
Such has been the case in the office of Richland County Engineer Adam Gove. Gove, who has now been in his position for over six years, heads an office which has responsibility for 347 miles of public roadway and 359 bridges. New construction is certainly included, but importantly so is regular maintenance and repair.
The Engineer’s Office has set out its 2023 plan of action, as it were, in the form of a list of anticipated projects and an accompanying map. This year’s project list includes:
Chip Seal Roads – Shiloh Norwalk Rd, Stafford Dr, Mansfield-Lucas Rd, Adario East Rd, Adario West Rd, Possum Run Rd, Ganges Five Points Rd, Amoy East Rd, Darlington South Rd, Butler-Newville Rd, Hazel Brush Rd
Paving Roads – Millsboro West Rd, Baseline Rd, Clear Creek Rd, Olivesburg-Fitchville Rd, Hummel Rd, Ernsberger Rd, Mt. Zion Rd, Noble Rd, Marion Ave Rd, Bellville Johnsville Rd
Guardrail – Various county road locations, replacement of guardrail
These projects can be located on the 2023 Planning Map, which can be viewed here.
The following are listed as funded future projects in the 2024-2025 timeframe:
