The venerable Coney Island in downtown Mansfield has a shiny new look these days

The North Main Street fixture can be dated as far back as 1936, when it opened as the “Famous Coney Island” and sold coneys for a nickel. It survived the economic downturn downtown in the 1970s and is now a part of the successful Carrousel District.

Coney Island has welcomed many visitors over the years, including a 2008 stop by then Vice President candidate Joe Biden.

Today’s menu includes their signature coney dogs, sandwiches, ice cream, salads, breakfast, and much more.

As shared by Downtown Mansfield, Inc., the Coney Island storefront now features a “…fresh new look with patriotic lights, a fresh coat of paint, and some power washing. As the photos show above and below, the result is phenomenal.

The lights will be on and food will be flowing on the evening of December 2 during Mansfield’s Christmas in the City. The community Christmas Tree is, after all, a few short storefronts away.
