First Congregational Church, located at 640 Millsboro Rd., has announced an extensive schedule of holiday events for the community. Situated across from the Mansfield Art Center, this historic church warmly invites everyone to celebrate the holiday season together.

“This is truly the most magical time of the year, and we are delighted to welcome the community to our beautiful space to partake in everything we have to offer,” said Ellen Haring, church moderator.

Advent Celebrations on Sundays in December

Throughout the Advent season, First Congregational Church will host special services every Sunday in December, featuring communion, unique events, and fellowship. The services, held at 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM, are crafted to foster a sense of unity and spiritual reflection. Nursery services will be available at the 10:30 AM service, and all services will be broadcast on Facebook, enabling remote participation for those unable to attend in person.

Musical Celebration on December 8

On December 8, at 10:30 AM, the Chancel Choir will present a special musical performance titled “Jesus! The Advent of the Messiah.” This production will feature a full choir and live instrumental accompaniment, showcasing traditional Christmas hymns in a compelling, large-scale presentation. Following the service, the church will host a community “Sweet Treat Cookie Walk,” where participants are encouraged to bring cakes to contribute to a fundraiser supporting the youth mission. This event offers an opportunity for guests to enjoy festive treats while supporting an important cause.

Children’s Christmas Program on December 15

On December 15 at 10:30 AM, the church will host a children’s Christmas program, in which the youth and teenagers of the congregation will narrate the story of Jesus’ birth through a combination of music, costumes, and storytelling. This program is designed to provide a heartwarming, engaging experience for all, encapsulating the spirit of Christmas through the creativity of the church’s younger members.

Candlelight Christmas Eve Service

On December 24, at 7:00 PM, the church will hold its annual candlelight Christmas Eve service. This cherished gathering will take place in the historic sanctuary, offering a serene atmosphere illuminated solely by candlelight, designed to help attendees reflect on and appreciate the deeper meaning of the holiday season.

Rev. Brad Bunn emphasized, “First Congregational Church is an important part of our community, and we warmly invite everyone to join us in celebrating this special time of year.”

Join the Celebrations

The church welcomes everyone to attend Sunday services, which are held at 8:30 AM and 10:30 AM. Nursery care is available for the 10:30 AM service, and the building is equipped with elevators to ensure accessibility for all attendees. Services are also streamed on Facebook, so be sure to follow First Congregational Church there for updates on events and opportunities to participate virtually.
